During the September 26th Municipal Financial Recovery Advisory Committee meeting, Fred Reddig of the Pennsylvania Department of Community of Economic Development (DCED) provided an update on the status of the monetization of the City of Harrisburg's parking system. Reddig reported that after having one candidate withdraw its proposal, three firms remained with a next day meeting scheduled to narrow the proposals to one.

The value of the system is greatly contingent on the Commonwealth of PA agreeing to a multi-year commitment to lease parking from the City's system. Reddig said, the Commonwealth's commitment has "a significant impact on the value of the monetization" of the parking system.

The September 27th 2-3 hour meeting occurred at the offices of DCED with to determine the final candidate that the Harrisburg Receiver will negotiate with. The Harrisburg Parking Authority's Executive Director, Richard Kotz, and its solicitor, Tim Anderson of Pepper Hamilton, were among those in attendance.---Tara Leo Auchey
