August 1st was the deadline to request Dauphin County sponsorship in order for the City of Harrisburg to apply for Local Gaming Grants by September 1st. When asked if the City of Harrisburg is applying, Mayor Linda Thompson said, "We are making several grant requests." She announced she's currently waiting on a commitment of $600,000 for cameras and other public safety initiatives. In March 2012, Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico had offered the City $25,000 from his office's Violent Crime Task Force fund.---Tara Leo Auchey
