Dauphin County Commissioners Appoint Feaser as Elections and Voter Registration Director

HARRISBURG, PA (January 16, 2013)–Dauphin County Commissioners Jeff Haste, Mike Pries and George P. Hartwick, III today named Gerald D. Feaser Jr. of Susquehanna Twp. as the county’s Elections and Voter Registration Director. Feaser will replace Steve Chiavetta, who will retire at the end of January 2013 after more than 30 years with the county.

"Jerry’s extensive public sector experience will serve him well in his new role," said Pries, who oversees the Elections and Voter Registration office. "He possesses the skills and experience necessary to conduct the county’s elections process in a fair and efficient manner."

Feaser holds a Bachelor’s degree in public relations, with a minor in government, from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, and graduated from Central Dauphin East High School.

Since 1999, Feaser has worked as press secretary for the Pennsylvania Game Commission. As the commission’s first-ever press secretary, he has served as the primary spokesperson, coordinating all external communications and outreach efforts. Feaser also served as senior deputy press secretary for Office of Governor Tom Ridge.

"Jerry not only brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the county, but also possesses the integrity and professionalism that’s needed to fulfill this critical role,” said Haste. "Without a doubt, he will work for the people of Dauphin County.

"Jerry is someone who will work hard behind the scenes to ensure that everyone has a voice in the elections process," said Hartwick. "I look forward to working with him."

"Considering the various capacities that Jerry has served the Commonwealth, I’m confident that he will do the same on behalf of the citizens of Dauphin County," said Josh Wilson, chairman of the Dauphin County Republican Committee. "He will be a trustworthy custodian of our election process."

"He is one of the hardest working and fairest people I know," said Democratic Chairwoman Marilyn Levin. "I have known him for some time, and he will work for the people of Dauphin County."

He is a member of Robert Burns Lodge No. 464 F&AM; Harrisburg Consistory; Harrisburg Forest #43, Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Zembo Shrine International and West Shore Elks Lodge No. 2257. He served as a den leader for Cub Scout Pack 77.

Feaser will earn $78,520 annually. He will start on January 28, 2013.
