HARRISBURG RESIDENTS HOST FIRST "LISTENING SESSIONS WITH ERIC PAPENFUSE"

HARRISBURG, PA - Residents of Harrisburg will sponsor a series of "Listening Sessions with Eric Papenfuse" to allow voters to discuss their concerns for the city's future and learn about his candidacy for Mayor.

Papenfuse, owner of the Midtown Scholar Bookstore, has received overwhelming support from people throughout the city since he announced he will be a candidate in the Democratic Primary for Mayor of Harrisburg. Papenfuse secured more than double the number of signatures needed to have his name placed on the ballot in the first day circulating his petition, and people are continuing to sign to show their support.

The first "Listening Session" will be held 5-7 p.m. Saturday, March 9 at the home of Jeff and Julia Duthie, 589 Showers St., Harrisburg. Those who would like to attend the event are asked to send an RSVP to campaign@papenfuseformayor.com by March 8.

Other "Listening Sessions" will be held: 6-8 p.m. March 12, 2013,

Papenfuse will use the "Listening Sessions" to engage Harrisburg residents on issues involving economic development, crime and safety, education and housing.

"I see these Listening Sessions as an opportunity to hear from residents about their vision of Harrisburg's future," Papenfuse said. "I want to be a Mayor who listens to the people and then acts on their behalf."

As founder and CEO of the Midtown Scholar Bookstore, Papenfuse has created 250 jobs in the past decade. His staff is a diverse workforce of more than 60 employees. His company is among the region’s largest national and international shippers.
