Type of Incident: Shooting investigation.

. Date / Time: 05-31-2013 at about 0125 hrs. . Location: 1700 block of N. 5th St.

. Investigating Officer: Detective Jason Paul

. Victim: B/M/56, Harrisburg resident B/M/46, Harrisburg resident

. Suspect: Anderson Ortiz, H/M/34, 2700 block of N. 6th St.

Charges: Attempted Homicide Aggravated Assault Recklessly Endangering another Person Carrying Firearm Without License Tampering With Evidence Other related charges . Suspect: Samantha Otero, H/F/22, Hall Manor.

. Charges: Attempted Homicide Conspiracy.

. Narrative: On 05-31-2013 at about 0130 hrs. patrol officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of N. 5th St. on a report of a shooting. Officers spoke to the victims in a home on that block. One victim is bedridden. The other victim said that a woman knocked at the door. She kept her head down while asking to come in. The victim became suspicious and didn’t open the door. A man then approached the door and brandished a handgun while demanding that the victim open the door. The victim was fearful that he was going experience a home invasion robbery or worse. He got his handgun and fired at the assailant through the door. The assailant fired back. The two men exchanged a number of gunshots. Fortunately no one was injured. Two cars parked on the street were damaged by gunfire.

. The assailants got into a car and sped off. The officers broadcast a description of the car and occupants. Capitol Police officers spotted the car and were able to get it stopped. Samantha Otero was the driver. She was taken into custody. The man, Anderson Ortiz, ran off but was caught by the officers. The handgun used by Ortiz was subsequently found when detectives checked the area where Ortiz ran.
