The Senate Law and Justice Committee unanimously approved former Congressman Tim Holden to serve on the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. The nomination will come before the entire Senate where it requires a two-thirds vote for approval.

Governor Corbett nominated Holden for the position and it was referred on June 17th, 2013.

Senator David Argall (R)-29th district introduced Holden to the Committee as his, "Most famous constituent," before Holden made brief remarks to the Committee.

Senator Charles T. McIlhinney highlighted the fact that Holden would be jumping into the fire on a very controversial issue and offered optimism in the Legislature's ability to successfully modify Pennsylvania's liquor laws.
