As of 11:43 am a total of 49 amendments have been filed to HB 106, a likely vehicle for Pennsylvania's Transportation Funding proposal.

House Republican Transportation Chairman Nicholas A. Micozzie has sponsored A04465 which provides for prevailing wage reforms as well as new fines for motorists that intentionally evade tolls on the Pennsylvania Turnpike or roads under the Turnpike Commission's control.

If the amendment successfully passes and the bill is signed into law, Motorists attempting to beat the system will be subjected to pay a fine of $3,000 dollars for the first offense, and $6,500 dollars or imprisonment not to exceed six months upon conviction of a subsequent offense.

It's important to note that these penalties would only to individuals who remove or tamper with their license plate to avoid toll collections, attempt to manipulate the true weight of their vehicles, if they conspire with others to alter, lower or evade payment of correct tolls, and the unauthorized use of a Pennsylvania Turnpike private gate access or otherwise unauthorized movement entering or exiting the turnpike other than at approved interchanges.

These additions can be found on page 57 of A04465 which was filed on November 14, 2013.

The following PDF contains the press release issued by Governor Corbett and provides a summary of the provisions contained in Representative Nicholas A. Micozzie's amendment.
