Earlier today, the House Rules Committee met to consider HB1060, an initiative sponsored by Representative Jeff Pyle.

The initiative was initially intended to amend the vehicle code to allow motorcycles to display their license plates in a vertical manner. Shortly after Governor Corbett and former Governor Ed Rendell urged legislative action on a transportation funding measure, the House successfully included the language that passed tonight into HB106.

The Pennsylvania Senate decided to move a Representative Pyle's bill as it was further along in the process and would require less legislative action before being sent to Governor Corbett's desk.

HB1060 was amended in the Senate and subsequently passed with language that mirrored the actions of the House on the previous day.

Representative Pyle's bill was moved out of the House Rules Committee earlier today by a vote of 24 to 8.

HB1060 proceeded to the Floor of the House and received favorable consideration on concurrence as amended by the Senate.

The final vote on this bill was 113 Yeas - 85 Nays. A partisan breakdown of the vote is as follows: Republicans - 64 Yes - 45 No; Democrats - 49 Yes - 40 No - 4 on leave.
