Slightly more than 25 reporters from news outlets throughout the Commonwealth convened in Dauphin County Court this morning to listen to arguments presented by attorney’s representing Graham Spanier, Gary Schultz and Timothy Curley.

The three men have been charged with various counts of obstruction, conspiracy and perjury charges as a result of their participation in the grand jury investigation of Jerry Sandusky.

At today’s hearing Judge Todd Hoover quashed the subpoena’s issued by the defense to solicit testimony from Cynthia Baldwin who served as counsel to Penn State during the grand jury investigation.

Although Graham Spanier,’s attorney, Elizabeth Ainslie, believes Baldwin’s testimony would be beneficial to her client, she would not comment on specific examples due to the fact that most of this information has been sealed by the courts.

Judge Hoover took the position that he believed he could decide the issues before him now without witnesses, rather accepting testimony, grand jury transcripts and correspondence between the attorney’s involved in the case.

As a result, the hearing was shorter than the time it took to enter the courthouse and wait for the hearing to begin.

A number of documents were unsealed yesterday and read into the court record during today’s hearing. It is expected that this information will become available over the next few weeks.

If there is a trial, I can tell you I fully expect Dr. Spanier to testify.
