Mayor Thompson. 'I'm not out here buying votes, and putting people on my payroll to get votes for me, who are opposite of my color."
Email from Bob Philbin on Mayor Thompson's petition signatures. Sent April 1st 2013.
"Thompson’s campaign spokesperson, Bob Philbin, said the campaign team of all volunteers circulated petitions from February 19 to March 12, around the city with supporters from her 2009 mayoral campaign and new volunteers moved to support the mayor over recent years.
All volunteers contributed on their own time, Philbin said, without any monetary incentive. Door-to-door canvassing and group gatherings made up the basis of the campaign’s signature gathering operations. “I think this is the strongest show of support any candidate petition has received to date.” Philbin noted."
Thompson campaign coordinator Calvin Hynson has been paid at least $2400 as of May 6, 2013, he circulated petitions for the Thompson campaign.
