Governor Corbett on the Ultrasound Bill - You just have to close your eyes.

During a press conference focused on his trade mission to Europe, Governor Corbett takes a question on the proposed Pennsylvania ultrasound bill which seeks to require women getting an abortion to have an ultrasound 24 hours prior to the procedure. The Governor declares he supports the requirement

"as long as it's not obtrusive."

When reporter Matt Belanger pushes the governor on his precise position, inquiring whether making a woman watch such a pre-abortion ultrasound is going too far, Corbett replies,

"I don't know how you make anyone watch it. Okay? Because you just have to close your eyes."

The governor re-emphasizes that his support of the bill is contingent on the ultrasound being external, not internal.--Tara Leo Auchey
