Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Announces Retirement of Chief Executive Officer

Harrisburg – The PLCB's Chief Executive Officer Joe Conti will retire from his position with the agency effective Feb. 2, 2013, to pursue future opportunities in higher education and the private sector.

"We appreciate Joe Conti’s service to the agency for the past six years and wish him well in his future endeavors as we focus on moving forward," said Chairman Joseph E. Brion.

Conti was appointed chief executive officer by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board in December 2006 to direct and coordinate all administrative and business operations at the agency. During Conti’s tenure, the agency went through a reorganization effort to improve operations, launched a major rebranding initiative to create brand awareness and modernize PA Wine & Spirits Stores, upgraded business technology systems to improve efficiencies and instituted professional development opportunities for staff to assist wine and spirit consumers.

"It has been a pleasure working alongside Joe Conti in our efforts to modernize the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board," said Robert S. Marcus. "During his time as CEO, the agency has made significant progress toward our goal of transforming the consumer experience while returning record profits to the commonwealth. I’m very proud of the work we did together and wish him continued success."

Conti will remain with the agency temporarily to assist with the transition effort.
