Harrisburg Police: Pedestrian struck and killed near Farm Show building.

Type of Incident: Pedestrian struck - fatality - investigation.

. Date / Time: 03-22 -2013 at about 0800 hrs.

. Location: 2300 block of N. Cameron St.

. Investigating Officer: Officer Kenneth Young – Traffic Safety Unit.

. Victim R/S/A: Stanley Dutterer, W/M/73, Hanover, PA.

. Charges: Pending investigation.

. Narrative: On 03-22-2013 at 0805 hrs. patrol officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of N. Cameron St. on a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a car. It was reported that a W/F/21 from Hummelstown was driving a car southbound and in the right-hand lane of N. Cameron St. The victim, Stanley Dutterer, was crossing Cameron St., walking west near the main entrance to the Farm Show building. Dutterer stumbled onto the roadway from the medial strip and fell in front of the car driven by the Hummelstown woman. That car ran over Dutterer. He was taken to the Harrisburg Hospital but he didn’t survive. He was not at a crosswalk.

. Dutterer’s personal vehicle was found parked in a lot on the east side of N. Cameron St. opposite the entrance to the Farm Show building. It appears that he was going to the Farm Show building to take part in the wrestling tournament taking place there. He had officiating equipment in his carry bag.
