As released by the Harrisburg Bureau of Police:

Type of Incident: Shooting investigation.

. Date / Time: 05-23-2013 at about 2100 hrs.

. Location: 1100 block of Cumberland Rd.

. Investigating Officer: Detective Christopher Krokos.

. Victim: Black male, 39, Harrisburg resident.

. Suspect: N/A

. Charges: Pending

. Narrative: On 05-23-2013 at about 2100 hrs. patrol officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 1100 block of Cumberland Rd on a report that a man had been shot. A man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen was found outside the apartment building. He said that he was carrying his sawed-off shotgun wrapped in a jacket and it accidently discharged. The injury, although significant, was not life threatening. He was taken to the Hershey Medical Center for treatment.

. The sawed-off shotgun was recovered where the victim said that he placed it. It will be examined and measured. The man was not charged yet so his name is not being released.
