Harrisburg Crime Report: July 4th Shooting, June 24th and 29th Robberies

As released by the City of Harrisburg Police Department:

Shooting Investigation:

On 07-04-2013 at about 2:40 am patrol officers were dispatched to the area of S. 19th and Brookwood Sts. on a report of a shooting with a man down. The officers were not able to locate the victim, nor a crime scene.

Moments later the victim arrived at the emergency room of the Harrisburg Hospital and an officer was sent there. The victim had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. The injury is not life threatening.

He and two companions related that they had been at a club in the downtown area and at closing time decided to visit an after hours club known as the Forever Nights near Derry and S. 19th Sts. They were in two cars and just as they parked two robbers who demanded their valuables confronted them. One robber displayed a handgun. The robber shot the victim in the chest. The robbers got away with one cell phone. City detectives were called to the scene and handled the investigation.

Robbery Investigation June 24th, 2013:

On 06-24-2013 at about 1:15 am. patrol officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Pine St. on a report of a theft. The victim reported that he was tired and slept in his car. A man who identified himself as Officer Craig awakened him. The man questioned the victim about possibly being intoxicated.

The victim got out of his car and was told that he was being placed under arrest and to put his hands on a wall. The man then took the victim’s wallet and ran off as he yelled back to the victim that he is stupid. The victim’s wallet and some identification cards were found the next day on the Riverwalk at Walnut St. The victim’s credit card was subsequently used in a downtown shop – see Photo 1 and Photo 2.

UPDATE 12:42 pm on July 5, 2013:

Robbery Investigation June 29th, 2013:

On 06-29-2013 at about 6:10 am patrol officers were dispatched to the Rite Aid store at 2103 N. 3rd Street on a report of an armed robbery. The victims reported that they had just unloaded a truck at the loading dock when an armed robber confronted them with a handgun. He demanded all the cash from the registers. The victims told him that they didn’t have access to the money. He then demanded all the Newport cigarettes. He took about 15 cartons of Newport cigarettes and fled. None of the employees were harmed.

The suspect is a black male in his 20's, about 5’10” tall and good build. See photo 1 and photo 2.
