“Motor Monday” to Offer Mercedes, Motorcycles and More

State’s Automotive Fleet Auction of Nearly 700 Vehicles to be Held Aug. 12.

Harrisburg – On Monday, Aug. 12, the commonwealth will host the latest installment of “Motor Monday” with an offering of nearly 700 state vehicles up for bid including two Mercedes Benz AMGs, 20 motorcycles, and high-end vehicles seized by state law enforcement agencies.

“This is the last auction of the summer, and it is sure to have something for everyone in the market for a quality used vehicle or motorcycle,” state General Services Secretary Sheri Phillips noted. “The inclusion of two 2001 Mercedes Benz’s with the AMG package –one CLK55 and one CL55– along with the other high-end seized vehicles being offered, are sure to add some spice to this auction.”

Available high-end vehicles include those from manufacturers such as Acura, Lexus, BMW and Cadillac, while motorcycles from manufacturers including Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha will be offered. In addition, vehicles no longer used by state agencies from manufacturers such as Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, GMC, Jeep and others will be up for bid.

A vehicle preview for the public to inspect the vehicles will take place beginning on Thursday, Aug. 8 through Sunday Aug. 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily at Manheim Auto Auctions in Grantville.

The auction will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12. Registration opens at 8 a.m. and closes at noon. Buyers may purchase with cash or certified funds in the form of money orders, cashier's checks, certified checks or bank checks – all made payable to “Manheim Central Penn Auto Auction.”

The commonwealth holds six vehicle auctions per year and all revenue generated is returned to the state.
