19 yr. old Attempted Homicide Suspect Taken Into Custody.

As released by the City of Harrisburg Police Department.

Harrisburg City Police officers on patrol heard numerous gunshots in the area of S 14th & Derry St at 3:10 am on 08/11/13.

They were then dispatched to a gunshot victim in the 200 blk of S 14th St. They encountered the victim and a female who stated that (2) black males shot at both of them, striking the male in the hip. The male was transported to Hershey Medical Center for treatment and the female was unharmed.

Later that day, at 11:30 pm, officers were dispatched to Harrisburg Emergency Room for a male that had been shot in the foot. It was determined that the victim was the brother of the earlier shooting victim. He was driving in the area of the 1300 block of Swatara St in attempt to identify his brother’s shooter. He located the shooter, who allegedly recognized him and fired shots at the victim’s vehicle. He sustained a minor foot injury.

One of the assailants was identified as Cornell Johnston III. On 08/13/13 the Harrisburg Police and the Dauphin County Crisis Response Team attempted a warrant service on Johnston at a residence in the 1100 blk of Bailey St. Johnston was taken into custody without incident, after about an hour standoff.
