At present, there are over 1300 metered-parking spaces located throughout the city of Harrisburg.

Central Business District includes the area bordered by Front Street, Market Street, Fisher Plaza and Forster Street. Meters in this area cost $.75 for 15 minutes or $3.00 per hour. The Business District area is contained by Front Street, Market Street, Fisher Plaza and Forster Street.

Rates for the surrounding area are 30 minutes for $.75 or $1.50 per hour.

Meters are color coded to show parking time limitations: orange/black stripe – 30 minutes, red – 2 hour limit, yellow – 4 hour limit, and green – all day parking.

The majority of the parking meters are located in the central business district and the downtown area with additional parking meters in the midtown area and in the vicinity of Polyclinic Medical Center.

There are nine (9) handicap parking meters located throughout the downtown area all of which have a two-hour time limit with a one-hour grace period after the two hours.

The new meter rates will be implemented after new meters are installed. Installation is tentatively scheduled to begin at the beginning of February 2014 but the implementation schedule has yet to be completed.

Standard Parking will be issuing warnings to anyone parked at meters between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm until February 1st, 2014. These warnings will become $30 dollar tickets starting in February.

Saturday Parking will run from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm at the same rates as described above.

Paying your tickets:

Parking tickets are payable at 223 Walnut Street Harrisburg, PA 17101. Parking Ambassadors have no quotas to fulfill, and prefer to educate customers to help them avoid tickets. Towing and booting information can be provided by calling (717) 234-2274.

If you’ve received a parking ticket from Standard Parking, it must be paid in person at their which is located at: 223 Walnut Street, Harrisburg PA 17101. Office hours are from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.

If you receive a ticket from the Harrisburg Police Department or as a result of street cleaning, those tickets are still payable at the Treasurer's office for the City of Harrisburg.

Residents of the city have brought the lack of available residential zoned parking to City Council's attention and they are hopeful that their concerns do not go unheard.

We'll be staying on top of this issue as developments unfold.
