Harrisburg property owners near 14th street sinkhole granted tax assessment reduction.

Dauphin county Board of Assessment Appeals granted property owners near the 14th street sinkhole a reduction of 54% in the assessed value of homes located on 12th, 13th, and 14th street in south Harrisburg.

The appeals were described as catastrophic loss appeals related to the the sinkhole discovered on April 1, 2014 on south 14th street in Harrisburg.

The board granted relief to all applicants who applied, consisting of 30 of 52 properties located on 14th street, and additional properties located on 12th, and 13th streets.

A 54 percent reduction on improvements, land value remains the same.
