A video montage of Harrisburg City Council's July 10th meeting. It is the last legislative meeting held before City Council's summer hiatus.
The point of controversy is whether or not to hire attorney Mark Schwartz to represent City Council at the July 25th Commonwealth Court hearing on the Receiver's request for Write of Mandamus to force Council to raise the Earned Income Tax on City residents.
Because of City Council President's insistence on Council's leave for vacation, there is no time for further discussion on obtaining legal representation.
The vote is called and with a vote of 3-2, the Resolution to hire Schwartz fails because two Council members were not in attendance, thereby a majority vote of the entire Council was not had. No attorney has been hired to represent City Council at the July 25th hearing.---Tara Leo Auchey
