As Chair of the PA Senate Local Government Committee, Senator John Eichelberger has scheduled an August 29th hearing on the debt structure of the fiscally distressed Harrisburg Incinerator. Eichelberger says the purpose of this hearing is not only to inquire about what happened to amass such a burdening public debt in PA's capital city, but also to explore whether or not State laws need to be changed in order that such crisis does not happen again anywhere else int he Commonwealth. "We're going to take a look at DCED's role. Do they have enough teeth in the law? Did they rubber stamp things that maybe they shouldn't rubber stamp?" When asked if the Committee's probe will go beyond the initial hearing scheduled, the Senator replied, "Oh, yeah....we anticipate it to be a multi-day process. There's just too much to go over in one day."---Tara Leo Auchey
