Senate Democrats held a press conference at 10:00am to announce their alternative budget proposal which spends a total of 28.4 billion dollars.
Senator Costa described the impetus of the alternative proposal as, "Drawing clear, right, policy lines between priorities and solutions."
Senator Hughes went on to described the proposal as representing, "The direction the people of Pennsylvania want this state to go." He continued, "This is an issue of priorities, this is an issue of putting the people of Pennsylvania first."
Hughes cited 125 million dollars in additional funding for job creation, and an additional 212 million dollars toward basic education funding as two principal pillars to their alternative budget proposal.
Senator Rob Teplitz went on to distinguish what his caucus released today and the current Republican proposal as the difference between, "A budget based on math, and a budget based on myth."
