Mayor Thompson tries to explain how funding for Capitol fire protection services was cut from last years $2.5 million to the current figure of $496,000 Thompson offers to a reporter "Let me catch you up to speed on the facts." and "I want you to have the facts." Thompson then gets the process wrong by saying "The republican senate cut the line item in fire services." It was House bill 1437 sponsored by appropriations chair William Adolph and passed by the house Wednesday afternoon by a 108-92 vote that contained the reduction in fire protection funding. The senate will begin discussing HB 1437 on Monday June 17th.
