View a copy of the contract between the City of Harrisburg and Guernsey's Auctions.
The contract stipulates that Guernsey's will be paid 18% on the first $1,000,000 of gross sales, 15% of gross sales between $1,000,001 and $2,000,000, and 12.5% will be assessed against gross sales that exceed $2,000,000. These rates apply for items sold at live auction and online.
We are uncertain which items have been offered exclusively online so we cannot factor in the commission of 19% on each lot sold exclusively online. To the best of our knowledge, all items sold have been offered online and at the live auction on city island, so this provision hasn't come into play.
In addition to the commission received for selling the artifacts, Guernsey's will charge buyers 22% of the first $100,000 in a lot and 15% of any amount in excess of $100,000. This premium is charged in addition to final hammer prices.
Based on the provisions of paragraph 4 and the most recent sales figures of $2,398,820 at 5:53 pm on Friday, Guernsey's Auctions has accumulated estimated earnings of $907,591.90 on the items sold thus far.
Of the $907,591, $379,851.50 will be paid by the city and the remaining $527,740.40 has been charged to the purchasers on top of the price paid for the artifacts.
It appears the city of harrisburg has raised approximately $2,018,969 on the sale of its artifacts.
