As released by the Harrisburg Police Department:
On July 20, 2013 at 2:01 am, officers were dispatched to investigate a robbery that had occurred in the area of N 15th & Derry St.
The victim reported that he was approached by a black male with a gun. The suspect pointed the gun at the victim and demanded his belongings. The victim had his cell phone, keys and wallet taken during the incident.
Afterward, the victim fled the area. The victim and the police then utilized the cell phone tracking application to locate the phone.
The phone was tracked to a residence in the 1400 block of Vernon St. Based upon the investigating officer’s knowledge of the residents at this address, Tarrin Britton was identified as a suspect. Britton was identified by the victim as the robber.
A search warrant was granted for this residence to search for the victim’s property. The Dauphin County Crisis Response Team was activated to assist with the search warrant due to Britton’s criminal history. The cell phone, the victim’s wallet, keys and a BB gun were located in the residence. Britton was charged with Robbery and Possession of Instruments of a Crime.
Over the weekend of 07/20 and 07/21, three other robberies were reported to the Harrisburg Police. The first occurred on 07/20/13 at 2:10 am, while the victim, an adult Black male, was walking south from the area of the 1st block of S 2nd St. The victim reported that two black males approached him and asked him for money. He stated he did not have any money and the suspects then began to assault him. He sought treatment at Harrisburg Hospital.
On July 20, 2013 at 9:54 pm, officers were dispatched to man down and bleeding at S 17th & Derry St. The victim, an adult Latino male, was located and transported by EMS to Harrisburg Hospital. The victim indicated that he was robbed and assaulted by at least one black male. The male approached him and struck him with a baseball bat, knocking him unconscious. The victim reported that he had been drinking at a nearby bar and afterward purchased a phone from a male on the street. He believes the male that he bought the phone from is the same male that robbed and assaulted him. The phone and his remaining money were taken.
On 07/21 at 3:25 am, an adult Black male, approached officers to report that he had just been accosted by a man with a gun. The victim parked his vehicle in the area of Derry & Dunkle St. He was then approached by a tall black male who brandished a gun. The suspect ordered the victim not to go anywhere. The victim fled the area. When he returned, his vehicle had been ransacked and items stolen.
