ERIC PAPENFUSE CALLS FOR REFOCUS ON ISSUES IMPACTING HARRISBURG RESIDENTS
HARRISBURG- Eric Papenfuse, Democratic Candidate for Mayor of Harrisburg, said Thursday his campaign welcomes the judge's swift and clear decision regarding the candidacies of Nevin Mindlin and Nathaniel Curtis, and he is ready to focus on the November general election.
"Judge Coates has evaluated the petitions, and we respect the rule of law," Papenfuse said. "The democratic process is subject to legal regulations, and they have been followed. Now it's time for our community to focus on the ongoing concerns facing City residents."
Papenfuse said he is looking forward to an upcoming series of public forums where voters will have opportunities to discuss the main issues affecting Harrisburg's future: crime, blight, education, and economic development.
"I look forward to a vigorous debate on these issues," he said, "so that whoever is elected Mayor will be able to move quickly to help Harrisburg resolve its problems and improve the quality of life for all our City's residents."
Papenfuse said his campaign has formed four advisory groups to engage the community in developing solutions to the City's problems. The groups will hold public meetings this fall to involve residents in discussions on key topics.
"It's time to get to work to make our City prosperous once again," Papenfuse said. "This election is not about individuals. It is about finding ways to bring our community together. No one leader can solve all of Harrisburg's problems alone. But together, we can."
