As released by the Office of the Mayor:
HARRISBURG, Jan. 28 – Mayor Eric Papenfuse will join State Rep. Patty Kim and PennDOT Secretary Barry Schoch at a news conference at 2 p.m. Thursday at South 17th and Sumner Streets to discuss the recently enacted transportation funding law and its importance for the City of Harrisburg.
“The City of Harrisburg will benefit significantly from the transportation funding law,” Papenfuse said. “We appreciate these efforts to help the city address its transportation needs.”
The transportation funding law provides almost $2.4 billion annually for the state’s roads and bridges and mass transit systems, including $10 million for repaving projects in the city.
Papenfuse said the money will fund street paving projects throughout the city, including in some of the most neglect areas. “This is the start of a very positive relationship between PennDOT and the city. We look forward to increased collaboration with the department in the coming years.”
