On Saturday March 15th Alton sent out an email describing her decision "to not formally challenge the rejection of the nearly 6,000 petitions gathered"
____________
We reached the state requirement goal of signatures. Although we did not have time to verify that every petition signature required for the five counties had been recovered, we arrived on-time, despite the sabotage of the petition drive.
After the last several days of reviewing copied petition pages I, personally am not confident the few remaining signatures would stand the scrutiny of a challenge by my peers.
I have made the decision to not formally challenge the rejection of the nearly 6,000 petitions gathered for my candidacy.

I can't give up and I won't give up. I am not going forward for myself but on behalf of all women who have had to face these same types of barriers I am faced with.
I am going forward for all the first time candidates that face the political machine. I must finish the race because of the future generations of public servants and civil rights leaders.
I must finish the race because injustice must be challenged. We overcome evil by doing good.
