A RESOLUTION
1 Appointing a committee and empowering it to investigate the
2 conduct of the Honorable Kathleen Kane, Attorney General of
3 the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
4 Resolved, By the House of Representatives of the General
5 Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, that the Judiciary
6 Committee be authorized to investigate the conduct of the
7 Honorable Kathleen Kane, Attorney General of the Commonwealth of
8 Pennsylvania, to determine whether Kathleen Kane is liable to
9 impeachment for misbehavior in office and to report to the House
10 its conclusions, determinations and appropriate recommendations;
11 and be it further
12 RESOLVED, That the Judiciary Committee designate the
13 Subcommittee on Courts to take testimony, review documents or
14 other materials and interview witnesses for the use of the
1 Judiciary Committee. In the performance of its duties, the
2 Subcommittee on Courts is authorized and empowered to:
3 (1) send for persons and papers and subpoena witnesses,
documents and other materials under the seal of the
Subcommittee Chairman;
(2) administer oaths to witnesses;
(3) take testimony;
(4) prepare and file pleadings and other legal documents; and
10 (5) make recommendations to the Judiciary Committee;
11 and be it further
12 RESOLVED, That upon receipt of the recommendations of the
13 Subcommittee on Courts, the Judiciary Committee be authorized
14 and empowered to:
15 (1) send for persons and papers and subpoena witnesses,
16 documents and other materials under the hand and seal of the
17 Chairman;
18 (2) administer oaths to witnesses;
19 (3) take testimony;
20 (4) prepare and file pleadings and other legal
21 documents; and
22 (5) employ staff;
23 and be it further
24 RESOLVED, That a sergeant-at-arms or his deputy shall serve
25 the process of the Judiciary Committee and Subcommittee on
26 Courts and execute its orders. The Judiciary Committee and
27 Subcommittee on Courts are authorized to sit during the sessions
28 of this House. The expenses of the investigation shall be paid
29 out of an appropriate account of the Chief Clerk, except that if
30 any staff expenses or compensation is to be paid by the Chief
1 Clerk, the approval of the Bipartisan Management Committee shall
2 be required.
