Another Twist in Harrisburg's Race for Mayor.
It's official, there's another candidate for Harrisburg's mayoral race, Nathaniel R. Curtis.
On May 15, 2013 we obtained footage of Nathaniel R. Curtis filing his campaign committee's finance report Curtis PAC. After a few unsuccessful attempts to reach out to Curtis, we were finally able to contact him prior to his official campaign announcement which took place earlier today.
At first Nathaniel was reluctant to reveal much of what he discussed today, but he indicated that he was excited about the opportunity to run for Mayor of Harrisburg and briefly discussed his military service when pressed on the matter.
Some Background:
At first glance it appears that Nathaniel is the ideal candidate for voters to relate to. At least that's what the political strategists thought.
Until recently, Nathaniel wasn't a resident of the city. As of March 18, 2013, his voter registration history shows him residing in Camp Hill from his initial date of registration on April 2, 2007 at the age of 19. More interesting is the fact that in all three elections he actually participated in, he voted as a registered Republican in Camp Hill.
Curtis voted by absentee ballot in the 2010 primary election, and at the polls for the 2010 general election. The most recent election he participated in was the 2012 primary where he voted at the polls in Camp Hill.
Nathaniel responds to these questions in the video above.
With these facts, and his decision to retain a Republican political consulting firm, ColdSpark* Media, he's going to be facing an uphill battle to prove himself to voters.
ColdSpark* is credited with the success of US Senate Candidate Tom Smith's Primary (who also switched parties), as well as Congressman Tim Murphy's re-election bid.
We'll keep you informed as events unfold. Stay tuned.
