Harrisburg Mayor Linda Thompson held a press conference today to discuss the beginning of the city’s comprehensive planning process. This initiative started with Dauphin County’s decision to prepare a new comprehensive plan through the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission (TCRPC).

The TCRPC is comprised of representatives from Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry Counties and serves to coordinate development and planning work across the 103 municipalities within the three Counties.

The city has retained Mullin & Lonergan Associates (M&L) to ensure compatibility between the Harrisburg and Dauphin County comprehensive plans. Read the Comprehensive Plan. PDF Harrisburg Strong.

The first meeting is scheduled for 7pm on Wednesday, October 16th, 2013 at Harrisburg High School. The following commercial for the event ran on WHBG 20.

In a detailed interview accompanying the commercial Mayor Thompson mentioned the difficulty of effectively engaging citizens in the process, "Some of you have sat on the sideline, but yet you complain that you're not involved."

When asked about the details of the comprehensive plan, Mayor Thompson continued to reiterate the same information that has already been provided to the public.

Here’s our footage of today’s press conference to re-announce the Comprehensive Plan Announcement for the public meeting that is taking place tomorrow night.

"You have non-profits who were stagnated in one section of the City."

What you don't want to do is not have a plan.

When I say vast, it's pretty vast.

This is about quality of life here, and growing this city in a way like it's never been grown before.
