Harrisburg - Rev. Micah Sims, senior pastor at Bethel A.M.E Church in Harrisburg, making an announcement regarding his candidacy for Congress in 2014 at a press conference scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Main Capitol Rotunda.

As the former state deputy director of Obama 2012, co-chair of Harrisburg Mayor Eric Papenfuse's transition team and a passionate civic leader, Sims is a Democratic favorite to seek a Congressional seat.

"In addition to making a statement about the race, I will discuss my platform of empowering the lives of people by growing the economy through job creation and an established living wage," said Sims.

Other areas for which Sims is passionate include universal healthcare, improving public education, and immigration reform.

Former Harrisburg Mayor Linda D. Thompson dropped a bombshell Saturday when she acknowledged her run for Pa's 4th congressional district, Thompson needs to collect 1K valid signatures to get on the ballot and has one week from today to file the nomination petitions.

If Thompson does qualify how much money will she be able to raise, in her run for reelection she was outspent by both Miller and Papenfuse and finished third in the May 2013 primary.
