On November 27, 2012, City of Harrisburg's Mayor presented her 2013 Budget. Assuring City Council that her Administration's budget has the support of Receiver William Lynch and his team, Thompson asked that her budget be left intact declaring any cuts to it would affect the operational efficiency of the City.
The 2013 Thompson Budget is about $2 million greater than the 2012 Budget. The increase is primarily due to the anticipated hiring of new positions such as police officers, code enforcement officers, and a spokesperson for the Mayor.
During her presentation, the Mayor emphasized her Administration's adherence to the Receiver's Recovery Plan. She said the budget she presented would put Harrisburg back on fiscal stable ground and establish a balanced budget by the end of 2013 for the first time in 20 years.
